It began many moons ago. Breaking onto the scene was a precocious young Hamburg native with adream of bigger things. An artist in every positive sense of the word. That artist was Oliver Schories andsome ten years later his influence is hard to ignore. He flashed across our radars as one-to-watch in 2012 with the release of his first album ‘Herzensangelegenheit’ on Parquet Recordings, quickly becoming one of Germany’s most booked DJ/liveacts. More released followed on landmark imprints such as Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s Musik GewinntFreude, Oliver Koletzkis’ Stil vor Talent and the seminal Get Physical, as well as more albums: ‘Exit’(2013), ‘Fields Without Fences’ (2015), Relatively Definitely (2016) and Blitzbahn (2018).A performer at his core, the studio albums have allowed him to play all over the world, but it was in 2019he was at the height of his powers travelling between the US, Europe and Australia constantly. Never farfrom the studio, he also managed to release 6 EPs including the amazing ‘Maia, which has amassedmore than 4.5 million streams. Aside from his performing side, Oliver is a big supporter of other artists. He launched his first label ‘der turnbeutel’ in 2012, superseding it with SOSO in 2014 which has hostedmusic from everyone from Djuma Soundsystem to Julian Wassermann. New imprint, Pracht, launched in2019 features the cream of talent including Nick Curly, Dave DK, Deetron and Rodriguez Jr. Clublands imposed hiatus has affected everyone differently. Some lost touch with realityand took to socialmedia as a cry for help, others, like Oliver, hunkered down and focused on making more music. Unableto tour with his sixth studio album, ‘Paradigm’, 2020 and 2021 have been some of his most prolific releaseyears since he began his sonic journey including a surprisingly successful collaboration with JanBlomqvist called ‘Packard’ which generated over a million streams in just 4 weeks. More music is forth coming, not to mention high profile remixes for Rüfüs Du Sol and others. But tha tis all prologue. Now is the beginning of the future of dance music; the future is a cheering crowd in a dark room livingtheir best lives full of hope and expectation.
